Basketball Game Preview: Normal West Wildcats vs. El Paso-Gridley Titans

The Normal West Wildcats will square off against the El Paso-Gridley Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Normal West faced off against Peoria on Friday. Normal West fell 47-38 to Peoria. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Lions are ranked 30th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Michael Zaleski, who posted nine points. Riley Larkin was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Meanwhile, El Paso-Gridley waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 67-56.

El Paso-Gridley is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Normal West, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
