Basketball Recap: Aaron Pensel Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Fleming Island

Leon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over the Fleming Island Golden Eagles on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Leon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Pensel, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Pensel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alphonza Gammons, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Leon's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Fleming Island, their loss dropped their record down to 23-6.

Coming up, Leon will take on Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. Fleming Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
