Basketball Recap: Taylor Granitzki's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Manteo over Holmes

Manteo entered their game against Holmes on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Manteo Redskins took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holmes Aces. The loss was the Redskins' first of the season.

Manteo lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Taylor Granitzki, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. That's the most boards Granitzki has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kai McGilberry, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Among those leading the charge was Naijhir White, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. White is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zach Walston, who had 12 points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Manteo fell to 4-1. As for Holmes, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Manteo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 92-56 win against Cape Hatteras on the 13th. Holmes will take on Perquimans in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holmes is facing Perquimans at the right time seeing as Perquimans is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
