Basketball Recap: Ozona Takes a Loss

Ozona was the 58-50 winner over Eldorado when they last played one another on January 3rd, but their luck changed this time around. The Ozona Lions were beaten by the Eldorado Eagles 65-35 on Tuesday. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Ozona lost, don't look at Hudson Fowler. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. Fowler has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 13 times he's played. Leo Blanco was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ozona smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

Ozona now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Eldorado, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 18-10.

Ozona will be playing in front of their home fans against Forsan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eldorado, they will square off against Sterling City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
