Baseball Recap: Oak Lawn Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Oak Lawn lost to De La Salle back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Spartans blew past the Meteors 11-1. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Melnik, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.

Melnik wasn't the only one making solid contact: Oak Lawn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as De La Salle only managed two hits.

Oak Lawn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for De La Salle, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-22 record.

Coming up, Oak Lawn will venture away from home to take on Downers Grove North at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The last three games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. De La Salle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
