Basketball Game Preview: Pershing Doughboys vs. Lincoln Abes

The Pershing Doughboys will face off against the Lincoln Abes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Pershing was handed a 37-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Ferndale 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Doughboys have posted since January 10th.

Meanwhile, Lincoln entered their tilt with University on Wednesday with 11 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 12. They claimed a resounding 78-37 win over the Eagles. Given the Abes' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh in Michigan, while the Eagles are ranked 384th in Michigan), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Pershing, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Pershing was taken down by Lincoln 77-45 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Pershing avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
