Recap: Cascade Christian Challengers vs. Dayton Pirates
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Cascade Christian Challengers had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 42-30 win over the Pirates. Cascade Christian's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Cascade Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashton Moody out in front who rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 148 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wilson, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
When it comes to explaining why Dayton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Boston Hodges. Despite the final result, he rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Hodges was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Zach Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Cascade Christian pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40.27 points. As for Dayton, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Cascade Christian will head out on the road to face off against Banks on Saturday. Banks has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 238 points over their last six matches. Dayton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
