Basketball Recap: Anacortes Comes Up Short

Anacortes has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 55-48 to the Lakewood Cougars on Friday. The Seahawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Anacortes' loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Lakewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Anacortes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakewood, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lynden Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lynden Christian is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Lakewood a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
