Softball Recap: Las Plumas Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Las Plumas's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gridley Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 14-2 win back in April.

Kyler Storey tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Las Plumas got a big performance out of Marli Benedict, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Benedict has posted since back in March. Brooklyn Atteberry was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Las Plumas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gridley only posted an OBP of .111.

Las Plumas pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gridley, they moved to 14-5 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
