Basketball Game Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils

The Platte Valley Broncos and the Fort Lupton Bluedevils will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Platte Valley will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Sterling, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Broncos walked away with a 63-56 win over the Tigers on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Broncos have beaten the Tigers on their court since February 17, 2016.

Regan Edstrom produced another solid effort going 6-for-12 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Perez, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 10 points and six boards.

Platte Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fort Lupton ended up a good deal behind Eaton on Tuesday and lost 78-61. The Bluedevils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Platte Valley pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Fort Lupton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
