Recap: Northeast Dubois Jeeps vs. Barr-Reeve Vikings
The Northeast Dubois Jeeps won the last time they faced the Barr-Reeve Vikings, and things went their way on Thursday too. Northeast Dubois secured a 36-31 W over Barr-Reeve.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeast Dubois to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kelli Merkel, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Merkel has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Helming, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Barr-Reeve lost, one person who can't be blamed is Willow Thompson. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Thompson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Bledsoe, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Northeast Dubois is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Barr-Reeve, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast Dubois will take on Loogootee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Loogootee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Northeast Dubois is ranked 127th). As for Barr-Reeve, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Shoals at 7:30 p.m. Shoals is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
