Basketball Recap: Millington Central Takes Down Power Center Academy in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Millington Central rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-33 win over the Power Center Academy Knights. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Knights are ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ayanna Ransom was a one-woman wrecking crew for Millington Central as she dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. What's more, Ransom posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Arianna Whiten was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Millington Central pushed their record up to 19-11 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points over those games. As for Power Center Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
