Preview: Cardozo Judges vs. Far Rockaway Seahorses
Cardozo is 3-0 against Far Rockaway since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cardozo Judges on the road again and play against the Far Rockaway Seahorses at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Cardozo's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Architecture, Engineering and Construction scored an imposing 67 points on Thursday, Cardozo still came out on top. Cardozo took their game against Architecture, Engineering and Construction 78-67. That's two games straight that Cardozo has won by exactly 11 points.
Cardozo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Barrett, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barrett has scored all season. Peter Douvres was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Far Rockaway suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 85-48 loss at the hands of Bowne. While losing is never fun, Far Rockaway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while Bowne is ranked 201st).
Cardozo pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Far Rockaway, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Cardozo strolled past Far Rockaway in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 72-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cardozo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
