Basketball Recap: Greeley West Spartans vs. Loveland Red Wolves
Greeley West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Loveland Red Wolves and fell 65-23. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-30 back in January.
Niyat Teame and Nisha Aguirre certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Teame posted nine points, while Aguirre earned no points. That's the most points Teame has posted since back in December of 2024.
Loveland found their leader in sophomore Courtlyn Yaussi, who shot 8-for-15 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double with 30 points and nine steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Yaussi has scored at least a third of Loveland's points. Addie Christopher was another key player, going 6-for-9 on her way to 17 points.
Greeley West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Loveland, their record now sits at 7-14.
Greeley West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-36 loss against Fort Collins on the 18th. As for Loveland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-36 defeat against Timnath on the 15th.
