Softball Game Preview: Ropes Eagles vs. Floydada Whirlwinds

The Ropes Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Floydada Whirlwinds at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ropes has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Ropes came up short against Lubbock Christian, falling 15-5. Ropes has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Floydada came tearing into Friday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Longhorns get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Whirlwinds have won 21 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Pyle made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Floydada got a massive performance out of Abree Castillo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Castillo a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Pyle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

Floydada lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Floydada's record is now 24-2. As for Ropes, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
