Basketball Recap: Stephenville Gets the Win

Stephenville picked up another tournament win on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins 60-58. Given the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Griffins are ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Great Hearts Northern Oaks still got an impressive performance from Caden Collins, who went 9 of 16 en route to 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. With that strong performance, Collins is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cardon Paulos, who posted 11 points.

Stephenville's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Stephenville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-36 defeat against Medina Valley on the 27th. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-53 loss against Tournament Opponent on the 27th.
