Softball Recap: Washington Wildcats vs. Leavenworth PIONEERS
Washington extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Leavenworth PIONEERS, falling 20-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the PIONEERS this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Wednesday.
Washington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Reno, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Reno's first of the season.
As for Leavenworth, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6. That 19 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Leavenworth's side, Khole Bockman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Bockman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Luci Pennington was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Washington will challenge Shawnee Mission East at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Leavenworth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
