Baseball Game Preview: Seaside Spartans vs. North Salinas Vikings

The Seaside Spartans will take on the North Salinas Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Seaside has struggled recently with 11 losses in a row, while North Salinas will arrive with three straight victories.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Seaside's offense. They lost 22-0 to Watsonville on Thursday.

Meanwhile, North Salinas posted their closest win since March 22nd on Saturday. They skirted past Alisal 5-4.

The team relied heavily on Zack Sims, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jake Burkhardt, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Salinas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Seaside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for North Salinas, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Seaside skirted past North Salinas 5-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2018. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
