Baseball Recap: Elbert Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Park on Monday, Elbert came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Burros by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Burros earlier this season, when they won 27-11.

Grant Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and one stolen base. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Elbert has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. South Park's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Elbert will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Park, they will host Sanford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
