3A Southern recap October 1, 2013
The Classical Academy's Peter Troupe recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Southern this season in his game against Discovery Canyon last week. Troupe scampered for 77 yards on the play and finished with 115 on the day as his team fell to the Thunder.
Michael Ranson and Zach Andrews provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Woodland Park. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Pueblo Central's dynamic duo of Ranson and Andrews proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ranson threw for 348 yards and 6 touchdowns and Andrews had 178 yards receiving. Nikko Valdez helped Pueblo Central's passing attack out by catching 12 balls for 177 yards.
He went 24-31 with 1 interception.

Thanks to the talents of Kurt Rode and Marco Perez, Pueblo East has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Rode is tops in the league in passing with 748 yards, while Perez has rushed for 505 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Pueblo Central's Valdez, with 426 yards on 34 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when The Classical Academy takes on Harrison. As it stands, David Bervig's team is in first, while the Panthers are in sixth.
Sierra fell to Coronado 48-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. William Nelson was a bright spot for the Stallions, as he threw for 213 yards in the defeat.
