Salamanca snaps 11-game streak of wins on the road

Recap: Salamanca Warriors vs. Fredonia Hillbillies

After a string of ten wins, the Salamanca Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 77-61 to Fredonia. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Salamanca came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Fredonia is ranked 360th).

Fredonia was led to victory by Davion White and Mike Hahn. White scored 24 points, while Hahn shot 7-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Hahn is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Luca Gullo, who scored 11 points.

Salamanca's loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-4. As for Fredonia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Salamanca will be playing at home against Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Salamanca's favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Southwestern has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Fredonia, they will take on Olean at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fredonia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
