Softball Recap: Houston County Gets the Win

Houston County won the last time they faced McKenzie and things went their way on Monday too. The Fighting Irish came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Irish.

Brilee Anderson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ally Mitchell and Preslee Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Mitchell went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Moore scored a run while going 3-for-3. That home run marked the first that Mitchell launched this season. Another player making a difference was Addie Horn, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

The victory got Houston County back to even at 5-5. As for McKenzie, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston County will host Hickman County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McKenzie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Fulton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
