Basketball Recap: St. James Academy Comes Up Short

St. James Academy lost against Saint Thomas Aquinas back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. James Academy Thunder took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints.

When it comes to explaining why St. James Academy lost, don't look at Noah Hornback. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Fratzel, who scored six points and eight assists.

Brett Yankovich continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Saint Thomas Aquinas, going 7-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Yankovich a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (78%). London Burton was another key player, putting up 15 points.

St. James Academy's record now sits at 8-8. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. James Academy will venture away from home to challenge Bishop Miege at 8:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they will head out on the road to take on Blue Valley Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saint Thomas Aquinas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Blue Valley Southwest likes a good challenge.
