Basketball Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Westside Patriots

Butler is 10-0 against the Patriots since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Butler Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Westside Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Butler is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Patriots in Georgia (the Bulldogs are ranked 83rd, while the Patriots are ranked 416th).

In what's become a running theme this season, Butler gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They put the hurt on Laney with a sharp 58-33 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-5.

Butler's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kam Gresham, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, and Taylor Kelly, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Gresham scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brayla Harris, who scored 11 points along with five assists.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Westside, who are still winless after their 16th contest. They were dealt a 82-14 loss at the hands of Washington County on Friday. Westside has struggled against the Golden Hawks recently, as their game on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Butler is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Westside, their defeat was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16.

Everything came up roses for Butler against the Patriots when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 77-10 victory. With Butler ahead 41-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
