Basketball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield lost against Episcopal back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Springfield Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 82-81 to the Episcopal Knights.

Despite the defeat, Springfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chase Burches almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burches has scored all season. Dequane Davis was another key player, putting up 17 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Springfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Springfield has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season. As for Episcopal, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Springfield has already played their next contest, a 69-42 win against Amite on the 4th. As for Episcopal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-62 loss against Mamou on the 4th.
