Basketball Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater lost against Roane County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sweetwater Wildcats were dealt an 80-53 loss at the hands of the Roane County Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 40th).

Bryson Burgess and Hunter Daffron certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Burgess went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points, while Daffron went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Cade Houser, who posted seven points.

Sweetwater's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Roane County, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Sweetwater will be playing at home against Midway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roane County, they will face off against McMinn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
