Softball Recap: Service Cougars vs. South Anchorage Wolverines

Service extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They fell 13-10 to the South Anchorage Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in April.

Kira Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Madison Davis was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for South Anchorage, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On South Anchorage's side, Ellie Kleven was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave Kleven a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jioni Walker, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Service will face off against Bettye Davis East Anchorage at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. South Anchorage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
