Basketball Recap: Alchesay Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ramona Gregg and Alyssa Jim

Alchesay was the 71-54 winner over Holbrook when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Alchesay Falcons took a 51-32 bruising from the Holbrook Roadrunners on Tuesday. The match marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Alchesay had strong showings from Alyssa Jim, who posted 14 points and eight boards, and Ramona Gregg, who earned two points and 12 rebounds. Gregg has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Even though they lost, Alchesay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Alayna Yazzie, who scored nine points along with five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Chelsey Begaye, who had eight points.

Alchesay dropped their record down to 11-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Holbrook, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

Alchesay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-39 loss against Show Low on the 31st. Holbrook has also already played their next matchup, a 64-46 defeat against Snowflake on the 31st.
