Recap: East Rockingham Eagles vs. Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers
The East Rockingham Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckhannon-Upshur. While losing is never fun, East Rockingham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 271st in Virginia, while Buckhannon-Upshur is ranked 39th in West Virginia).
Buckhannon-Upshur was led to victory by Ian Strader and Carter Zuliani. Strader scored nine points along with eight rebounds, while Zuliani scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerin Westfall, who scored three points.
East Rockingham now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
East Rockingham will head out on the road to face off against Turner Ashby at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckhannon-Upshur won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Skyline at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. Skyline is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
