Baseball Recap: Montgomery's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Montgomery entered their tilt with Rudder on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Rangers 12-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 last Tuesday.

Montgomery got a great performance from Brayden Hernandez as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Chase Hiatt was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Karson Nelson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Montgomery hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Montgomery's record now sits at 14-8-2. As for Rudder, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montgomery will welcome Magnolia West at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rudder, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lake Creek at 7:00 p.m. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Rangers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
