Football Recap: Shelby Starts Season with Victory Against White Cloud + How To Watch

Shelby had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 57-0 win over the White Cloud Indians. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians on Thursday, too.

Shelby's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Garcia, who picked up 72 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 53 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Brody Fessenden was another key rusher, rushing for 99 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jaylin Henderson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Shelby's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. Leading the way was Camden Smith with three.

Coming up, Shelby will take on North Muskegon at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for White Cloud, they will square off against Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
