The Boardman Spartans will head out to square off against the St. John Fighting Herald at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boardman's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so St. John's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Boardman fell victim to Harding and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-0. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Collin Resetar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, St. John waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Braves get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory. The Fighting Herald's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Gus Petros was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petros was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ezra Campbell, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Dyln Newsome was another key player, going 4-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
St. John kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
St. John pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Boardman, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
