Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maryvale Prep). They blew past the Arete Prep CHARGERS 14-5 on Tuesday. The Matador not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8, 2024.

Andy Quintero made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Parada, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaac Saucedo Duran, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Maryvale Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maryvale Prep's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maryvale Prep is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Mayer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arete Prep, they will head out to challenge Chandler Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
