Basketball Game Preview: Rossville Hornets vs. Taylor Titans

The Rossville Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Taylor Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Rossville sitting on three straight victories and Taylor on eight.

While Rossville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Winamac by a score of 60-50 on Thursday.

Rossville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Thiele-Hahn, who posted 21 points. Thiele-Hahn's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Skinner, who earned eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.

Rossville was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Taylor beat Delphi Community 39-33 on Thursday. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Oracles are ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Taylor pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Rossville, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Rossville might still be hurting after the 68-46 loss they got from Taylor when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Rossville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
