Football Game Preview: Anderson Raptors vs. Big Walnut Golden Eagles

Anderson is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Big Walnut is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Raptors will square off against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Anderson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 48.9 points per game this season.

Anderson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Trotwood-Madison 38-7. Given the Raptors' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked first, while the Rams are ranked 34th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Owen Scalf produced another solid performance throwing for 406 yards and five TDs, while also rushing for 37 yards. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in September. Tysin Weaver also helped out as he racked up 138 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Anderson's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brady Kuhn, Reid Baker, and James Schnurstein, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Trotwood-Madison's side was Kuhn, who picked up a sack, made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended three passes.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Big Walnut beat Washington 27-21 on Friday.

Big Walnut's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Anderson, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.

Anderson didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Big Walnut in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. Will the Raptors repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
