Softball Recap: Hamilton Wins Going Away Against Canastota

Hamilton barely beat Canastota the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights blew past Canastota 9-2 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Ellie Freeth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Polly Hansen-Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kristen LaFrance was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Hamilton's record now sits at 7-1. As for Canastota, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will take on Oriskany at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Canastota, they will challenge Cooperstown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
