Baseball Recap: Freedom's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It's playoff time, and Freedom had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the El Cerrito Gauchos on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 18th.

The result came thanks to Caleb Emmons's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Freedom is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colton Vick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

The victory (which was Freedom's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for El Cerrito, they moved to 20-8 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Freedom nor the Gauchos have any future games scheduled.
