Softball Recap: Saint James Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Saint James had no problem doing just that on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Montgomery Academy Eagles 4-3. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Peyton Middleton tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Arden Green, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Vara York also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Saint James' win bumped their record up to 43-7. As for Montgomery Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-17.

Saint James didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 victory against Alabama Christian Academy on the 28th. Montgomery Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
