Volleyball Recap: Whitefield Academy Takes a Loss

Whitefield Academy was the 3-1 winner over Shawnee Mission Christian when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs on Tuesday. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-21 in the first set.

Whitefield Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 26-24, 25-11, 25-23.

Whitefield Academy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Shawnee Mission Christian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Whitefield Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Cornerstone Family on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission Christian will square off against rival Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
