Basketball Game Preview: Locust Grove Wildcats vs. Eagle's Landing Eagles

Locust Grove hasn't had much luck against Eagle's Landing recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Locust Grove Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Eagle's Landing Eagles at 2:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Eagle's Landing will be up against a hot Locust Grove team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Locust Grove walked away with a 64-57 win over Woodland on Friday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eagle's Landing, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Hampton by a score of 58-51 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Hornets are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Locust Grove is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Eagle's Landing, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Locust Grove came up short against Eagle's Landing when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 60-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Eagle's Landing's Tyson Moore, who posted 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.
