Preview: South Pointe Stallions vs. York Cougars
South Pointe is 10-0 against York since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Pointe Stallions will head out on the road to challenge the York Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Pointe has 21 straight wins, York has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
South Pointe stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They really took it to Northwestern for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-15 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
JaNyia Cunningham was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Victoria Morris was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, York was beaten by Lancaster 45-17 on Tuesday. York was down 41-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
South Pointe's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 47.8 points. As for York, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Everything came up roses for South Pointe against York in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 90-8 win. With South Pointe ahead 60-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
