Basketball Game Preview: Augusta Southeastern Suns vs. Astoria/VIT Rebels

The Augusta Southeastern Suns will head out on the road to take on the Astoria/VIT Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Augusta Southeastern and nine for Astoria/VIT dating back to last season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-37, which was the final score in Augusta Southeastern's tilt against Quincy Notre Dame on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Suns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 645th, while the Raiders are ranked 215th).

Meanwhile, Astoria/VIT played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Illini West 61-20. The game marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Augusta Southeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Astoria/VIT, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Augusta Southeastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Astoria/VIT when the teams last played back in February, winning 42-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Augusta Southeastern since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
