Basketball Game Preview: Seagraves Eagles vs. Sundown Roughnecks

Seagraves hasn't had much luck against Sundown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Roughnecks at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Friday, Seagraves came up short against Plains and fell 33-25.

Meanwhile, Sundown also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Whiteface by a score of 41-32. While losing is never fun, the Roughnecks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Antelopes are ranked 117th).

Seagraves will need to focus on slowing down Kelbie Powell, one of several Sundown players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points. Powell has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Camry Jourden, who put up ten points.

Seagraves' defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Sundown, their loss dropped their record down to 17-11.

Seagraves was dealt a bruising 65-19 defeat at the hands of Sundown in their previous meeting back in December of 2025. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 33-12.
