            Baseball Recap: Shelby Valley Wildcats vs. Floyd Central Jaguars        
        
		
        
        
            It was a proper cat-fight when  Shelby Valley challenged Floyd Central on Monday. The Shelby Valley Wildcats fell just short of the Floyd Central Jaguars by a score of  4-2. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in April of 2024.
 Riley Newsome was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he  pitched four innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   two  hits. Newsome was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 Newsome wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Kobe Fields, who  went 1-for-4 with one  RBI.
Shelby Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Looking ahead, Shelby Valley is taking a road trip to  challenge Lawrence County  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Floyd Central, they will look to defend their home field  on Tuesday against Magoffin County  at 6:00  p.m.
