Basketball Game Preview: Hilldale Hornets vs. Glenpool Warriors

The Hilldale Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Glenpool Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hilldale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They managed a 42-37 victory over Checotah.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Glenpool, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They claimed a resounding 67-33 win over Skiatook. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

Hilldale better keep an eye on Yaya Gibson. She was instrumental in Glenpool's win, on her way to 19 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. They are 11-2 when Gibson posts three or more steals, but 6-7 otherwise. Tyra Mckinnie was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 steals and five rebounds.

Glenpool was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Glenpool has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points over those games. Hilldale's victory bumped their record up to 8-13.

Hilldale was dealt a bruising 66-35 defeat at the hands of Glenpool in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. Can Hilldale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
