Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Marshwood

Marshwood proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Falmouth Navigators a 1-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Gus Alexander looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Marshwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Silas Reimels, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

The win (which was Marshwood's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Falmouth, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Marshwood will challenge rival Kennebunk at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Falmouth is set to square off against their familiar foe Noble at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Navigators 1.2, the Knights 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
