Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Bartow's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Bartow unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Victory Christian Academy Storm. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellow Jackets of the 65-52 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jah'Mir Wallace, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Bartow is 14-4 when Wallace posts ten or more rebounds, but 0-3 otherwise. Messiah Borders was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Even though they lost, Bartow smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive matchups.

Bartow's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Victory Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Bartow wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 85-48 win against Lake Wales on the 24th. As for Victory Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 100-77 victory against Sports Leadership & Management on the 23rd.
