Basketball Recap: Stockton Extends Winning Streak to Six

Stockton had won five straight games and Madie Mammoser did her part to make it six on Friday. The Stockton Blackhawks walked away with a 50-39 win over the Stark County Rebels thanks in part to Mammoser, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 18 boards. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Ireland Mensendike, who posted six points in addition to six boards and four steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Stark County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Coley Johnston went 10 of 19 on her way to 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Johnston is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Demetreon, who had five points and seven rebounds.

Stockton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Stark County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Stockton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 39-24 victory against Erie-Prophetstown on the 27th. As for Stark County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-31 win against Morrison on the 28th.
