Volleyball Recap: Glenbrook North Spartans vs. Maine South Hawks
With a playoff game on the line, Glenbrook North rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Maine South Hawks by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
While Glenbrook North won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 26-24.
Claire Dillon paced Glenbrook North's offense, picking up 14 kills. Dillon got some help from
Lauren Choi and her 16 assists.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Teagan Heneghan, who had four digs and 15 assists. Heneghan has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more assists the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vasara Rauda, who had four digs and two aces.
Glenbrook North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season. As for Maine South, they moved to 21-10 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
Glenbrook North is on the road again on Tuesday to play Loyola Academy at 5:00 p.m. Loyola Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Glenbrook North surely won't give up without a fight. Maine South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
