Basketball Recap: Grayson County Blue Devils vs. Alleghany Trojans

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Chiswell, Grayson County was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 39-32 win over the Alleghany Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-39 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Alleghany saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lillian Carrillo went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carrillo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ally Glenn, who posted two points.

Grayson County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Alleghany, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Grayson County has already played their next game, a 60-55 victory against Chilhowie on the 28th. As for Alleghany, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-18 loss against North Wilkes on the 28th.
